Kaansas Cathloics School's "Speak English" rule Upheld

Finally a Judge that is willing to "stick up" for America. We need more of these and we will not see them under the Commie/Imam Obama.

In a case that drew national attention, a federal judge has upheld the right of St. Anne's Catholic School in Wichita, Kansas and its local diocese to require students to speak English at school. U.S. District Judge J. Thomas Marten dismissed a lawsuit filed by a Hispanic student, Adam Silva, whose parents had challenged the school's policy charging it was illegal national origin discrimination. ProEnglish intervened to help the school defend the policy which the school had implemented to stop harassment among its students.

"St. Anne's Catholic School is fully within its rights as an educational institution to curb bullying, profanity and exclusionary behavior among its students by requiring that English be spoken, and we are pleased that Judge J. Thomas Marten agrees," says K.C. McAlpin, executive director of ProEnglish, a national English advocacy organization. The group gave assistance to the Wichita, Kansas, school's legal team and hired a local attorney to represent two St. Anne's students that were caught up in the lawsuit over the "speak English" rule.

ISLAMO-FASCISM WEEK III: "STOP THE JIHAD ON CAMPUS"

Islamo-Fascism Week III: "Stop the Jihad on Campus"

This as far as I know is the only group actually fighting the Islamic Horde, supported by the Wahhabi CAIR and the communist ACLU, that has invaded America.

Their concentration on the College and University Campus is particularly welcome and I pray they are successful.

Now if we can just get rid of the Secular Progressive Communist Professors and Instructors on campus maybe the "Brain Washing" of our youth will stop.

I note that there doesn’t seem to be anyone else, not even Homeland Security fighting this invasion of America and its multiple moves, using our laws to establish Sharia Law in Wahhabi Islamic Ghettos among other moves that will destroy our Constitutional America.

Islamo-Fascism Week III: "Stop the Jihad on Campus"

By David Horowitz and Reut CohenFrontPageMagazine.com 8/15/2008

While America is finally winning the war in Iraq, the global effort against the Islamic jihad goes on. In Afghanistan, the war with al-Qaeda is still raging. In Gaza, Hamas continues to launch genocidal attacks against Israeli towns. Meanwhile, on American college campuses a coalition of organizations connected to the jihad network demonizes America and Israel. This coalition carries on its agendas of hate with the unwitting collaboration of student governments and university administrations. In October 2007, more than one hundred campuses hosted Islamo-Fascism Awareness weeks to make university communities aware of the Islamist threat and the danger it poses. In April 2008 a second Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week focused on the network created in America by the Muslim Brotherhood and that includes the Muslim Students Association and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).This fall, during the week of October 13-17, students on more than 100 campuses will hold events under the banner of "Stop the Jihad on Campus," a campaign designed to make the university community aware of the support the Muslim Students Association, Students for Justice in Palestine and other leftist groups provide for the jihadists' hatred and agendas.

A focus of this campaign will be the genocidal nature of the jihad. Over one hundred Muslim Students Associations have refused to condemn the genocidal terror groups Hamas and Hizbullah, and have declined to repudiate the infamous Hadith or saying of the prophet which calls on Muslims to kill Jews to bring about the Day of Judgment. The request to repudiate this incitement was sent to the Muslim Students Associations by the David Horowitz Freedom Center last spring. It has been re-sent recently. If the MSAs again refuse to condemn religious genocide and the organizations whose goal it is to carry it out, the “Stop the Jihad” movement will call for the defunding of MSA chapters who promote of ethnic hatred and refuse to condemn holy war.

The Muslim Students Association portrays itself as a religious and cultural organization, representing all Muslims. As a result, MSAs receive generous funding from student activities boards – often more than most other student groups. The University of Pennsylvania’s Muslim Students Association for example receives $20,000 from student government while college Republicans and Democrats receive nothing. During May 2008, the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine– a chapter of the Muslim Students Association -- specifically requested and received $6,500 for their “Palestine Awareness” program which called for the destruction of the Jewish state under the banner “Never Again? The Palestinian Holocaust.” The May 2008 Muslim Student Union hate-fest in support of terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah at UCI included virulently anti-Israel and anti-American speakers such as imam Amir Abdel Malik Ali, imam Muhammad al-Asi and Norman Finkelstein.

The MSA is in fact an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organization, which has created a network of “front” groups to conduct a stealth jihad in America, including CAIR, the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Society of North America. “Stop the Jihad on Campus” will seek to make the academic community aware of the stealth jihad in its midst and end university support for the hate agendas – against women, gays and Jews – which MSA-sponsored speakers have brought to campus.

The national MSA has sponsored hate speakers such as Sheik Khalid Yasin who has called for the execution of gays and accuses Jews of orchestrating the 9/11 terror attacks. Last spring, the MSA brought Sheik Yasin to Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota State, the University of Minnesota, St. Cloud College and Sinclair Community College. The MSA has named its student scholarship fund after a member of the Muslim Brotherhood network, and has sponsored “Nakba” celebrations to coincide with Israel’s birth date and whose agenda is the destruction of the Jewish state. Student leaders will be asked to press their student governments to defund their respective MSA chapters for sponsoring ethnic hatred and violating university rules and regulations.

Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week will raise consciousness in campus communities across the nation as to the nature and presence of the jihad in their midst. Americans need to wake up to the threat that confronts them, before it is too late. For more information, please visit http://www.blogger.com/

Preaching to the Choir

What I have been attempting to "Preach to the Choir" is that even if McCain wins all we gain is
probable appointment of Conservative Judges, we don't Surrender in Iraq, the probability there will be no new Taxes, and some vague promise about Immigration.

The battle we still face will be with the Secular Progressive Communists (SPC's) that control Congress, the Democrat Party and their Ally the Wahhabi Islamic Horde, (some 8 million Wahhabi Islamic Muslims directed to immigrate to America by the Saudi's, with their 2,000 Wahhabi Mosques). Do not write off this Islamic Wahhabi Horde as sum minority  "Sub-Group", their power to assist in the Conversion of America to a Secular Progressive Nation is 2nd only to the SPC's, and they have the financing and support of not only the Saudi's but the entire Islamic World. Too narrow a view of this double threat is to accommodate desaster.

Recent headlines that "Tyson plant adds Muslim Holiday, Keeps Labor Day" is an example of the subversive actions, successfully giving the Wahhabi Islamic Horde special Privileges not given to any other GROUP or Religion through a "BACKDOOR" regardless of US Law.  Note: (Tyson is a supporter and great friend of the secular Progressive Clintons, that should tell you more about Tyson.)
I strongly recommend reading "Londonistan", by Melanie Phillips and its exposure of what the SPC that control England and their support of the Islamic Horde that is destroying that nation should be, must be a "WAKE-UP" call to us.

I support making every effort possible to elect McCain, but our efforts must include not only the elections but the exposure of these "Formidable Foes" and educating the American People before we are faced with a "Washingtonistan", which may be too late.

If this be "Chicken Little", so be it, I can see no other course of action.

Hitler Invaded Sudetenland, Now Putin Invades South Ossetia

This is an extraordinary shrewd move by Putin. Not only as outlined below but at a time when America is  involved in:

a war in Iraq;

a war in Afghanistan;

our support for Israel;

our inability to convince our historical allies to support us in these areas; and

the threat of the SPCD's and Islamic 5th Columns at home;

BUT, we may Stupidly elect a totally incompetent President/Commander in Chief, the Commie/Imam Obama.

Putin shrewdness' must be admired, not only might he be successful in South Ossetia, but with Obama he wins in the Near East as well. We now must wait for the "Next Shoe to Drop" for China to make her move--Taiwan comes to mind.

Hitler Invaded Sudetenland, Now Putin Invades South Ossetia
Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Monday, August 11, 2008

On October 3, 1938, Adolf Hitler's armies marched into Sudetenland, a part of Czechoslovakia. Germany said it was responding to separatist demands from the large German population that lived there and that she was merely honoring their desire for reunion with Germany. Hitler's tanks took over a vital part of an independent country that had largely rejected his overtures and allied itself with the West. Neither Britain nor France nor the United States did a thing to stop him.

On August 7, 2008, Vladimir Putin's armies marched into South Ossetia, a part of Georgia. Russia said it was responding to separatist demands from the large Russian population that lived there and that she was merely honoring their desire for reunion with Russia. Putin's tanks took over a vital part of an independent country that had largely rejected his overtures and allied itself with the West. Neither Britain nor France nor the United States did a thing to stop him.

Encouraged by his occupation of Sudetenland, Hitler continued his designs on Czechoslovakia itself and invaded the rest of the nation a few months later.

Will history continue to repeat itself?

Georgia is one of the two countries that have split off from the old Soviet Union and most firmly reached out to the West. Now Putin is testing whether the west will respond to an overt Russian military attack on a part of Georgia, doubtless paving the way for a full scale invasion, perhaps in the coming days. One immediate Russian move would be to use its new found military leverage to force Georgia to give up Abkhazia, another province with a large Russian population.

Russia has encouraged migration by ethnic Russians into its satellite empire ever since Stalin's days and now is using the provinces with large Russian populations to foment discord in nations that lean to the West.

The United States and the European Union must not turn away at this crucial moment in history. The U.S. should take visible steps to bolster Georgia, including the dispatch of supplies, materials, and other manifestations of our determination not to let this nation be invaded.

Russia's goal in this imperialism is to intimidate any nation on its borders into rejecting overtures from the west and to try to prove that the west will offer no real protection against Russian military designs.

NATO should speed consideration of Georgia's application for admission and should extend its security umbrella to include the struggling democracy.

If the United States appeases Russia now, it will pay the same price British Prime Minister Nevelle Chamberlain paid in the 1930s. This invasion must not be allowed to stand or, at the very least, it must be contained to South Ossetia and not allowed to lap over into the rest of Georgia.

Tyson plant adds Muslim holiday, keeps Labor Day

One thing that has not been mentioned in this "Kow Towing" to Islam, is the realationshit that Tyson has with the Clintions. the Clintons as we all know are big Secular Progressive Communist Democrats's (SPCD's), so it should not come as a surprise that their buddies at Tyson and its communist Union would support the elimination of an American Holliday "LaborDay", replacing it with a Muslim Holiday "Eid al-Fitr.
This suggests an attempt to 'BACKDOOR' through a Communist Union and a SPCD Company special privileges for the Wahhabi Muslims that are not available to any other religion, and is further proof that the SPCD's and the Wahhabi Horde are ALLIES. Like support of the Islamic Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) by the Communist ACLU, both supported by the SPCD's. One of the best examples of ther success is the conversion of San Francisco to the Secular Progressive Communist city it is today.A city in a county where grammer schools hold two weeks of Islamic Studies that includes study of the Koran, note that no studies of Hudaism or Crhirtianty or Biddhism, etc, etc, is allowed.
To further my belief that this is a combined attempt by CAIR, the ACLU, and the SPCD's is the statement made by Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for CAIR, and note the stupid remark by the President of this communist Union, Stuart Appelbaum, "that we should be sensitive to the members of this community, who want to celebrate their religious faith". He doesn't mention that his Union along with the ACLU and SPCD's want to remove GODfrom the Village Square, and supports the Wahhabi Muslim Pray Rooms in many of our Colleges and Universities, but denies any such privilege to Jews, Christians, Buddhists and others, making the institutions, with their SPCD Professors and Insturctors, little more than "Brain Washing Factories" for our Children.

By ROSE FRENCH, Associated Press WriterFri Aug 8, 5:16 PM ET

Union workers and officials at a Tyson Foods plant in Tennessee said Friday they have agreed to reinstate Labor Day as a paid holiday, and the plant will also observe the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr this year.

Tyson had previously agreed to drop Labor Day and substitute the Muslim holiday as part of a new 5-year contract to accommodate Muslim workers at the plant in Shelbyville, which is about 50 miles south of Nashville. The decision sparked widespread criticism, from local politicians to talk radio to the Internet.

The Springdale, Ark.-based company said it requested reinstating Labor Day after complaints from plant workers and the public.

Union members voted Thursday to reinstate Labor Day as one of the plant's paid holidays and keep Eid al-Fitr as an additional paid holiday for this year only. For the remainder of the contract, workers will have Labor Day and a personal holiday, which can be used to observe Eid al-Fitr or another day the employee's supervisor approves.

Union officials have said at least a couple hundred of the 1,200 plant workers are Muslim.

Eid al-Fitr — which falls on Oct. 1 this year — marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Muslim civil rights advocates criticized Tyson Foods, and a union official said the company's response was disingenuous.

"This wasn't something imposed. It seems that this backtracking would be the result of the backlash from anti-Muslim hate (Web) sites and Islamophobes on the Internet," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for Washington D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Stuart Appelbaum, president of the union headquartered in New York, said he was surprised by the reaction to the holiday change.

"I would have thought that people would have been more sensitive and sympathetic to the concern to the members community, who want to celebrate their religious faithof our ," he said. "It's a little disingenuous to say that they (Tyson) were responding to employee concerns. The proposal came from workers themselves."

Tyson's previous decision to drop Labor Day as a paid holiday drew intense scrutiny. In a letter to the Shelbyville Times-Gazette newspaper published Thursday, the local mayor and other state elected leaders said substituting Labor Day "for a nontraditional holiday is unacceptable."

"For over a hundred years, Labor Day has stood as a symbol to honor the working men and women of this country. But for the past few years traditions like Labor Day have been under attack. This time it's gone too far and we, as patriotic Americans, must draw our line in the sand," the letter said states.

Requests for workplace accommodations of Muslim religious obligations have become common around the country, say Muslim advocates.

In 2005, 30 workers walked off the job at a Dell Inc. plant in Nashville after alleging the company refused to let them pray at sunset.

Last year, dozens of Somali meatpacking workers at a Nebraska plant quit their jobs because they were not given enough time off for Muslim prayers, though they eventually returned to work at the Swift & Co. plant.

Obama's communist Mentor untel age 18.

For any that doubt that Obama is a Secular Progressive Communist, please read and leaarn.

 Maxstake

Election '08: The mainstream media have finally gotten around to revealing Barack Obama's early mentor untel the age of 18. But they've downplayed the mystery man's communist background. As noted in the July 29 curtain-raiser to this series, the seeds of Obama's far-left ideology were planted in his formative years as a teenager growing up in Hawaii -- and they were far more radical than any biography or media profile has portrayed.

Poet-journalist Davis speaks in Hawaii in this undated photo.

Poet-journalist Davis speaks in Hawaii in this undated photo.

A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to the age of 18 -- a man he refers to only as "Frank" -- was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

In a belated story on the relationship, the Associated Press describes Davis as "left-leaning."

In fact, Davis was a member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA, according to the 1953 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities of the Territory of Hawaii, which labeled him "a bitter opponent of capitalism." The report was introduced as evidence in the U.S. Senate Internal Security Subcommittee hearings probing the "Scope of Soviet Activity in the United States."

"Davis scholars dismiss the idea that he was anti-American," the AP reports. But one of them, ex-University of Hawaii professor Kathryn Takara, acknowledges in a Ph.D. paper on Davis (not quoted by AP) that he'd been fingered as "a Communist."

Davis wrote militant poems as a black writer in Chicago, including one in which he hails the Soviet revolution: "Smash on, victory-eating Red Army." He also attacked traditional Christianity, titling one inflammatory screed, "Christ is a Dixie N*****."

As Obama was preparing to head off to college, he sat at Davis' feet in his Waikiki bungalow for bitter nightly bull sessions. Davis plied his impressionable guest with liberal shots of whiskey and advice, including: Never trust the white establishment.

"They'll train you so good," he said, "you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that sh**."

In the eyes of white America, Davis warned Obama: "You may be a well-trained, well-paid n*****, but you're a n***** just the same." He also nurtured anti-white hatred in his young mulatto subject, telling him, "Black people have a reason to hate."

AP conveniently glossed over these quotes.

How much influence did Comrade Davis have on Obama? The Democrat White House hopeful refuses to talk about the relationship now. In the book, he only shares that he was "intrigued by old Frank, with his books and whiskey breath and the hint of hard-earned knowledge."

However, Obama followed in Davis' footsteps after college, working as a "community organizer" for the same socialist network in Chicago. He even considered a career in journalism like Davis.

Obama attended socialist conferences, and took a shine to other black Marxist revolutionists. Not long after Davis died in 1987, Obama came under the spell of another black nationalist-socialist, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who, like Davis, wore a dashiki and became a father figure.

If the relationship with Davis was as blase as the Associated Press makes it sound, why is Obama mum about it? And why did he try to hide Davis' identity in his first memoir, published in 1995?

"With the exception of my family and a handful of public figures," he wrote in the preface, "the names of most characters have been changed for the sake of privacy." But there was no need to protect Davis' privacy. He had long been dead.

More likely, the cryptic references to his communist mentor were -- and still are -- designed to protect Obama's background from the scrutiny it deserves.

He Is Who He Is
Tony Blankley
Wednesday, August 06, 2008

It's getting tricky to know how to refer to he who presumes to be the next president. It was made clear several months ago that mentioning his middle name is a forbidden act. (Pass out more eggshells.) Then, having nothing honorable to say, Obama warned his followers last week that Sen. McCain would try to scare voters by pointing to Obama's "funny name" and the fact that "he doesn't look like all the presidents on the dollar bills."

Now, putting aside for the moment the racial component of His warning, what are we to make of the "funny name" reference? Many people have "funny" names. Some people think my last name -- being very close in spelling to the adverbial form for the absence of content -- is funny. Certainly, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee's name is funny. Many on the left have had great fun with President Bush's last name. But we all have found our names perfectly serviceable and would expect people to call us by the names by which we identify ourselves.

But He has made it clear that the mere use of His name would be freighted with coded innuendoes of something too horrible to say straightforwardly. One has to go back to Exodus 3:13-14 to find such strict instructions concerning the use of a name. Moses explained: "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" And God said to Moses, "I Am Who I Am." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I Am has sent me to you.'"

So perhaps we can call Him, for short, Sen. I Am (full code name: I Am who you have been waiting for).

Another aspect of the now-infamous dollar-bill incident that has gone unmentioned is Sen. I Am's choice of the dollar-bill reference itself. He could have just said He doesn't look like other presidents. Even that is a little too cute for the nasty little point He slyly was trying to make, but at least He would be identifying Himself merely with the universe of American presidents. But His overweening pride found such company too base and demeaning for Him. So He needed to include Himself in the grander company of George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Jefferson and perhaps Andy Jackson. (I doubt He had in mind Woodrow Wilson on the $100,000 bill or Grover Cleveland on the $1,000.)

Perhaps I shouldn't dwell on these matters, but the more I watch this man the more stunned I am at His overconfidence and towering pride. I have known a number of great and powerful men (and read biographies of many more), and they surely don't lack confidence or ego. But who among the great would have answered the question posed to the junior senator from Illinois a few weeks ago as He did? Asked whether He had any doubts, He said "never." Is He so foolish as to think He has the world figured out to the last detail, or is He so proud of His intelligence that He cannot confess to ever having any doubt? Either explanation renders His judgment of dubious presidential caliber.

Here is a man who talked almost contemptuously of Gen. Petraeus. Explaining His differences with the general, He said that His "job is to think about the national security interest as a whole; (the generals') job is just to get their job done (in Iraq)." Of course, right at the moment, the junior senator from Illinois doesn't yet have "His" job, while Gen. Petraeus, as confirmed Centcom commander, has direct responsibility for both Afghanistan and Iraq and everything in between and around them. But in the mind of Sen. I Am, He already is, while He thinks the man who is perhaps our greatest general in two generations is just another flunky carrying out routine orders. It is repulsive to see such a mentality in a man who would be president.

All of us have our shortcomings, of course. But there is none so dangerous both to a man and to those for whom he has responsibility than the sin of pride. In the sixth century, Pope Gregory the Great recognized that pride breeds all the other sins and is therefore the most serious offense. St. Thomas Aquinas reaffirmed that pride is rebellion against the very authority of God.

Let me quote a private e-mail correspondent, who states the case better than I could: "Pride indeed is the cardinal vice -- it swings open the door to most of the other theological vices, and undermines the classical virtues of prudence, courage and justice. It thrives, not on what one has, but on what others do not have. And even when one has diligently practiced the most admirable virtues, there always lurks the danger that at some moment one will look in the mirror and say: 'Oh my! What a wonderful person I am!' Thus does the vice lunge from its hiding-place."

For a man, his personality is his destiny. If he becomes president, his flaws become the nation's dangers. The voters must judge carefully both the personalities and the ideas of those who would be president.

Subject: Your Petitions have the final word on Fairness Doctrine

David Martin
Executive Vice President
Media Research Center

Uvin A.,

Before Nancy Pelosi turned out the lights and skipped town
for a five-week paid vacation--compliments of U.S. taxpayers,
MRC Action Team members got the final word on the so-called
"Fairness Doctrine".

On Thursday, and Friday, the MRC delivered more than 192,000
petitions to eight key members of Congress--including House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has made it clear that she is in
favor of government censorship of the airwaves.

In addition to those petitions, the MRC also delivered petitions
to twenty-two other key Congressional offices--from citizens within
their individual districts!

The sheer volume of petitions was so overwhelming
in fact, they caught the attention of the Capitol Police who
became alarmed over the many boxes being delivered
        to Congressional offices!

If the police were concerned, imagine the impact and
increased pressure they had on the individual Congressmen
who received petitions from their constituents--demanding
to know where they stood on this vital First Amendment
        issue?

Thanks to you, Uvin A., we've put Congress on notice--letting
them know that we won't sit silently so long as the threat of
government censorship looms.

In fact, over these last several weeks, we estimate over 400,000
Congressional contacts were made by MRC Action Team members
through phone calls, faxes, and petitions!

As Rep. Pence reported, a number of members in Congress are feeling
the pressure--torn between the people they supposedly represent,
and Nancy Pelosi's gag order...

Yes, Uvin A., we've rattled some cages, and I fully intend on
rattling some more when Pelosi and her cohorts attempt to re-instate
the "Fairness Doctrine".

I say "when", because silencing the likes of Rush, Sean, Laura and others
would remove the last, and greatest obstacle in their liberal push to
incorporate their radical, socialist agenda on the American people.

But thankfully, because of friends like you, and your eagerness to
answer our call to action, they are in for the fight of their lives!

Thank you for your outstanding support!

HELLO LONDONISTAN IN AMERICA! ! ! !

Here is just another example of "Kow Towing" to the Muslims and you will note that this was brought about by the UNION, a Secular Progressive Communist Union. Labor Day a holiday for all Americans is eliminated for one religion Wahhabi Islam, make no mistake its not truly  Muslim Holiday, it is an Islamic Holiday.

HELLO LONDONISTAN IN AMERICA! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Bill

Plant Drops Labor Day For Muslim Holiday

More Than Half Of Tyson Plant's Workforce Muslim

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. -- Some workers at a local plant will no longer to be able to take their Labor Day holiday because of religious reasons.

Workers at the Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day but will instead be granted the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.

According to a news release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, a new five-year contract at the plant included the change to accommodate Muslim workers at the plant.

Tyson's director of media relations Gary Mickelson said the contract includes eight paid holidays -- the same number as the old contract.

Eid al-Fitr -- which falls on Oct. 1 this year -- marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Union leaders said implementing the holiday was important for the nearly 700 Muslims, many of them Somalis, who work at the plant that employs a total of 1,200 people.

Nineteen-year plant veteran William Pentecost doesn’t agree with the decision.

"I don’t think it's right. I really don't think it's right," he said.

Tyson company spokeswoman Libby Lawson said by phone that, "This isn't a religious accommodation, this is a contractual agreement. The majority asked for it."

The change didn’t bother some workers.

"I think it's fine. I don’t have any problem with it. There's a whole bunch of them here, so they've got to do something for them," said worker John Smith.

"It shouldn't happen. I mean, I think, we're in America, you're in America, I think that they should go with our holidays," Pentecost said.

Channel 4's Cynthia Williams could not reach any of the plant’s Muslim workers, because Channel 4 News' crew was not permitted on the property.

Former employee and Shelbyville resident Anthony Proctor said he thinks what's happening is wrong.

He said he helped build a special Muslim prayer room that's located inside the plant and that no other Tyson facility has been that accommodating for any other religion.

"If we want to go pray, we don’t have one for Christians," he said.

Tyson is headquartered in Arkansas.

Lawson said they consider religious accommodations on a case-by-case basis. She said that so far, no one has asked for any other type of religious prayer room.

No one at the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union’s regional office answered phone calls placed by Williams on Friday.

A representative in New York said that no one there knew specifics about the new contract with the workers, but a person in research told Williams that holidays aren't usually replaced and are more likely to be added on.

The decision will only apply to workers at the plant who are union members. All other employees at the plant will still have their normal Labor Day holiday.

Staff Sergeant Michael Dickinson

Staff Sergeant Michael Dickinson

After three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Army Staff Sgt. Michael A. Dickinson II of Battle Creek was preparing to leave the war.

"He told me he was on his last mission and he would be home," Dickinson's mother, Vicki Dickinson said Tuesday, a day after her son was killed by a sniper in Ramadi, Iraq. "But he's not supposed to come home like this."

Dickinson was with a Marine Corps patrol when the sniper killed him and wounded another soldier, his family was told. He was one of three American soldiers killed in separate attacks on Monday. The other two died in Baghdad.

A member of the 4th Psychological Operations Group from Fort Bragg, N.C., Dickinson was scheduled to leave Iraq by the end of the month. He was packing and training his replacement. He wanted to continue his studies to be a physician's assistant and work in a clinic in his wife's native home of Puerto Rico.

Now his mother and other members of his family in Battle Creek are preparing to travel to Fort Bragg to join Dickinson's wife, Glorygrace, their daughter, Abigail, 2, and his wife's four children for a memorial service Thursday. Local services are not yet scheduled.

A 1998 graduate of Harper Creek High School, Dickinson and his adopted brother, Darrell Morris, decided in the 11th grade they wanted to join the Army, following his late father and both grandfathers, who were in the military.

"He came from a long line of fighters," his mother said, "and he believed in his country. He left for the service one month after graduation."

Even as youngsters, the brothers awoke at 3 a.m. for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and milk so they would grow and be ready for the Army.

Dickinson had been working in the relatively safe area of Fallujah, his family said, but was concerned about some members of his unit in Ramadi and volunteered two or three months ago to transfer there.

Ramadi, which has more than 400,000 residents and is described as one of Iraq's most violent cities, has roadside bombings and gunbattles every day. U.S. patrols have been confined to small sections of the city, and tribal leaders who have cooperated with U.S. forces have been assassinated or forced to flee the country, according to the Associated Press.

"He was safe but he felt they needed him and he was going to be with them," his sister, Carmen, 27, said.

"He volunteered because he was confident he could bring those boys home," his mother said.

Michael Dickinson felt it was his job to make sure everyone returned from the mission and that was true even on the mission where he died, family members said.

"The Marines really respected Michael," his mother said. "The men cared about him and they said they will find the sniper who shot him. He died a hero."

Carmen Dickinson said she watched her brother mature while in the military even as she remembers wrestling with her brother when they were children growing up on Vale Street, where Vicki Dickinson still lives.

"I used to kick his butt," she said. "I would pulverize him and then I would run."

Later, she saw him developing principles.

When she snuck out of the house late at night, Michael informed their mother.

"He felt obligated to tell," she said, "because he was worried about me being on the streets and he felt what he was doing was right."

In school, Dickinson wasn't the best student.

"He was smart but he didn't like school," Carmen Dickinson said. "His life was social, he slid by."

"He believed in doing his homework," his mother said, "but not in turning it in."

Active in football and basketball and in the band, Dickinson is pictured in his high school yearbook wearing a football jersey, a gold chain and his signature smile.

Al Miller, principal of Harper Creek High School during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 school years, remembers Dickinson's grin.

"He was always friendly and outgoing," said Miller, who currently serves on Harper Creek's school board. "He had a positive attitude and always dealt with people in a mature and positive way. He was admired and respected by both staff and students."

In another yearbook photo, Dickinson is featured with fellow student Shannon Hill while participating in the school's annual holiday project, in which students donated their time, food, money, clothes and toys to help 25 Harper Creek families during the holidays.

Miller said Dickinson would come back to the school and visit after graduation. The two would engage in casual conversation.

Michael Nauss, assistant superintendent of Harper Creek Community Schools, said Tuesday he spoke with Vicki Dickinson and offered condolences on behalf of the Harper Creek educational community.

"As a district, we work to develop responsible citizens of a global society," Nauss said. "Michael's service to our country is an honorable example of what it truly means to be a responsible citizen."

It was in high school that Dickinson began spending time with his best friend, Jason Feasel.

"I considered him my brother," Feasel said Tuesday at his Springfield business. "I have known him since seventh grade but we started hanging out our freshman year. We did everything together. When you click with someone you just click with them. He was easy to get along with and he was a great guy.

"He would do anything for anyone just like he did for his country."

Feasel was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident in July 2003 and, when Dickinson returned from Iraq that month, the first stop was Feasel's hospital room.

"It meant a lot to see him coming through he door," Feasel said.

"He had just bought a DVD player and he said, 'Hey man, you got a better use for this.' And I watched a ton of DVDs. He would give you the shirt off his back."

Feasel talked to Dickinson on Thursday. "He was telling me the place he was at was crazy and he was so happy to come back home. He was talking about his daughter and he had pictures to send me but he I didn't get those pictures."

Feasel also watched his friend mature and become a family man.

"I lost my best friend. It's a killer. But I am glad I got to be part of his life and I am glad he got to be part of mine."

Dickinson didn't tell his family much about the war or his job.

"We didn't understand how much danger he was in," Carmen Dickinson said. "He didn't talk about things over there."

"But he supported the military," Vicki Dickinson said. "What they asked of him was what he was going to do. It was his job and he was going to do his job."

She said people should remember her son as someone who was caring and "who took his responsibility in life seriously and wanted to do nothing but good."

"And what is more patriotic than giving your life for your country — willingly. He thought he was needed so he answered the call. I am very proud of my son."
